Erin Stauffer

Owner, Head Coach & Trainer

Equestrian Canada (EC) Licensed Coach

Erin Stauffer has successfully operated Legacy Performance Training since 2010 as Owner and Coach (certified and insured), bringing over 20 years of riding and professional equestrian experience to her program. She is a graduate of Olds College, where she studied English and Western Horsemanship, and has since built a well-respected training and lesson program that offers instruction across a wide range of disciplines and rider levels.

Erin has extensive competitive experience, including showing at premier venues such as Spruce Meadows, as well as gaining additional international exposure through competition and riding experience at venues in California. These experiences have contributed to her strong understanding of both national and international sport horse environments and have helped shape her practical, performance-focused coaching style.

In addition to her coaching and training program at Legacy Performance Training, Erin is also the Coach for the Alberta International Young Breeders Team, where she supports and develops young equestrians in their horsemanship, handling skills, and competition preparation at an international level. Her involvement in this program reflects her commitment to education, mentorship, and the development of future industry leaders.

Erin has established herself as a respected leader within the Alberta equestrian community and is highly sought after for her balanced, thoughtful approach to rider development. She is currently expanding Legacy Performance Training through a growing coaching team, including apprentices and working students, to further support the program’s development and reach.

At the core of Erin’s philosophy is a strong emphasis on balance, correct foundations, and the importance of the horse-and-rider relationship. She believes that long-term success in the sport is built through consistency, clear communication, and a solid understanding between horse and rider, and she continues to foster these principles throughout all levels of her program.

Zoe Kuss

Assistant Trainer

Zoe Kuss has been riding for 18 years and brings a diverse background across multiple equestrian disciplines, contributing to her well-rounded and thoughtful approach to horsemanship and training. She has developed a strong foundation in both competitive and developmental riding, with a particular passion for young horse development. Zoe is dedicated to building confident, healthy horses through patient, consistent, and intentional training that prioritizes long-term soundness and understanding.

Her experience in the show ring includes competing at recognized venues such as Spruce Meadows, where she has gained valuable exposure to high-performance competition environments. These experiences have helped shape her ability to stay composed under pressure while continuing to develop her skills as both a rider and horsewoman.

Outside of the barn, Zoe works as a nurse, bringing the same level of care, attention to detail, and professionalism to her equestrian pursuits as she does in her healthcare career. She is highly motivated to continue learning and expanding her knowledge within the industry, with a goal of obtaining her EC Coaching License by 2027.

Zoe is excited to be part of Erin’s team and values the opportunity to grow within a supportive and like-minded environment. She looks forward to continuing to develop her skills, deepen her experience, and contribute positively to both the horses and people around her.

Ruby van den Bosch

Assistant Trainer

Ruby van den Bosch has been riding horses for as long as she can remember and has always been drawn to the deep, unspoken connection that can be developed between horse and rider. One of her favorite aspects of training is seeing the moment when consistent work begins to translate into understanding, trust, and progress.

With a strong passion for all facets of the equine industry, Ruby is committed to lifelong learning and continually expanding her knowledge and skills. She hopes to begin the process of obtaining her EC Coaching License in the near future and strives to combine the best elements of the training methods she has experienced, from traditional European approaches to relational horsemanship. Her goal is to apply this well-rounded philosophy to both her horse training and future coaching endeavors.

Ruby spent more than seven months in the Netherlands working as a groom and stable rider, where she gained valuable experience with both young horses and high-performance competition horses. Over the years, she has developed a particular interest in groundwork and the role it plays in building trust, communication, and understanding throughout the training process. She is also passionate about the breeding side of the industry and has recently launched her own breeding program, further expanding her involvement in the development of quality sport horses.
